2023, Surgery (United States)Citation Excerpt :Preoperative comorbidity burden was measured using the Johns Hopkins ACG Aggregated Diagnosis Groups scoring system (version 10) based on health-service use within a 2-year look-back window and dichotomized into high and low comorbidity burden.39 Preoperative cardiac comorbidities were defined as ischemic heart disease or congestive heart failure diagnoses within a 2-year look-back window.40,41 Preoperative anemia, measured with the Ontario Laboratory Information System (OLIS), was defined as a hemoglobin concentration <130 g/L obtained closest to the date of surgery (including up to 8:00 a.m. on the day of surgery) within a 90-day look-back window.42
