2022, eClinicalMedicineCitation Excerpt :In 2013, a need was identified to define research priorities to address the post-MDG agenda that focused not only on survival but also on the growth and development of children. Therefore, World Health Organization (WHO) coordinated a global exercise to set research priorities for newborn health till 2025.2 Using the Child Health and Nutrition Research Initiative (CHNRI) method, a set of 20 top-ranked research priorities were identified in the domains of delivery (how to take effective interventions to every mother and newborn), development (how to improve existing interventions), and discovery (develop new and effective interventions).

Del mismo modo, en la prioridades de investigación recomendada por expertos con el objetivo de disminuir la mortalidad neonatal llaman la atención de necesidad de investigaciones que fomenten el CPP y la lactancia en el periodo neonatal.28 En este sentido, la información de esta evaluación económica permite a los tomadores de decisión de los diferentes niveles (gubernamental, asistencial y hospitales) disminuir la incertidumbre en las decisiones administrativas y asistenciales para que implementen las medidas necesarias que haga efectivo el CPP al nacimiento (ejemplo contratación de personal, tiempo de salas de maternidad, tiempos de estancias en recuperación y equipos para el monitoreo del binomio) y deriven en un incremento en el uso.
